A1 A-1 Fencing Fences · Decks · Hardscapes

A ten-year warranty, in writing, in plain English.

A warranty is only as good as the contractor still standing behind it. We have been building in Maryland since 2009 with our own crew — and we publish exactly what is and is not covered.

Coverage

What is covered

10-year workmanship warranty

Covers our installation: post settlement and heave, structural framing, base failure, wall movement, and gate hardware alignment. If our work causes it, we fix it at no cost to you.

Manufacturer material warranty

Registered in your name on completion. Premium composite decking carries 25–50 year coverage; most paver lines carry a lifetime structural warranty; vinyl fencing typically carries 20 years or better.

One-year adjustment period

Wood moves as it dries and new hardscape settles slightly in its first freeze-thaw cycle. We come back once inside the first year to adjust gates and re-sand joints, no charge, no argument.

What is not covered

We would rather be blunt about this up front than have an uncomfortable conversation in year four.

  • Storm, flood, fallen-tree and vehicle damage (that is what homeowner insurance is for — we do the repair)
  • Normal weathering of natural wood, including graying and minor checking
  • Damage from a third party altering, grading against, or attaching to our work
  • Failure to perform basic maintenance such as sealing wood or clearing wall drains
  • Ground movement caused by new construction, excavation or utility work by others

We repair storm and impact damage at normal rates, usually faster than a general contractor because we already have your project specifications on file.

FAQ

Warranty questions

Is the warranty in writing?

Yes. You receive a signed warranty certificate at final walkthrough, before you make final payment. It names the covered work, the term, and the claim process.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell the house?

The workmanship warranty transfers once to the next owner within the original ten-year term at no cost. Provide us the closing date and we reissue the certificate.

How do I make a claim?

Call or email us with photos and your project address. We schedule an assessment within five business days and, for covered issues, complete the repair at no charge.

What maintenance is required to keep coverage?

Very little. Natural wood should be sealed or stained within the first year and roughly every three years after. Retaining wall drain outlets should be kept clear. Composite and vinyl need nothing but occasional washing.
